Her Name

I know you've all been eagerly waiting to find out what we've named our little Princess.

ANNOUNCING:

Chanah Bella Goldman

Chanah is in memory of Carol Harriet Kaplan Goldman, Chaim's mother. Her Hebrew name was Chanah, which means "grace" or "mercy".

Bella is in memory of Isobel Cheiten Isserlis, Kim's maternal grandmother. She was called Itabella in Yiddish, from which we've taken Bella, which means "beautiful."

So, our little girl's name translates to "beautiful grace".

We had a naming ceremony here in our home, for our family.
It was just the seven of us (wow, seven of us!), and lovely.

This almost 82-year old bassinet was Chaim's mother's when she was a baby. It's amazing to be using it for her namesake.
(Great thanks to Chaim's siblings for shipping it to Israel five years ago....
sorry it took us so long to have a girl to name after your Mom.)

(Yes, of course, it's fresh breast milk in that bottle!)

Now, we were thinking of possibly naming her after my Great-Aunt Louise, instead of after Bella.
But then her name would have been "CHANAH LULU".
(We hear Hawaii is lovely this time of year.)

Just kidding. I don't even have an Aunt Louise.

IT'S A GIRL!!

9:10 AM Israel-time, we welcomed child #5, daughter #1 into the world!

Everything went according to "plan". This was the very day we hoped to have her (for a variety of reasons), the beginning of the 38th week of pregnancy, the morning after a restful Shabbat. The birth was at home, and went perfectly. Labor was just a few hours, and the delivery was done in the water. It was all just amazing. (We really are very impressed by how well prayer works!)

Mom and baby are doing great! Dad is so-so. ;-)

OK, OK, so you want photos, right?:

Pregnancy Update

I'm in my 36th week of pregnancy. I usually deliver during my 38th week, so we're almost there. But, I've recently found out there are some complications with the baby's position.

Please visit my other blog at www.FamilyNatural.com to read the 2 posts about my baby's position and what I'm doing about it.
