It's been a While

Sorry for taking so long. You know, life happens...But here are some more recent pictures.

We have had an unusually warm and dry winter. Pleasant, but not good (meaning the lack of rain--remember, winter is the rainy season here). So on a very warm day a couple of weeks ago I ventured out with the 2 little guys to the BIG playground about 10 minutes away.
The past week has been cold and rainy. Good for the land, but Brr! Yes, I know, those of you who have snow would laugh. But hey-I'm from Miami! And, we aren't doing much heat since we can get by without it. So, again, I say: BRR. The rain stopped after a few days, and now it's sunny again. yay!

Here's our yummy Shabbat breakfast layout.

And, little Yoni, nice and clean.

25 random things about me

I posted the following note on my Facebook page, in response to being "tagged". I enjoyed writing it, and I think that those of you who are not on Facebook (and therefore missed it), may enjoy reading. Love, Kim
PS. the picture is unrelated to the text, and yes, it's an old picture. But cute.

25 Random Things About Me
1. I am a very private person, and am uncomfortable reading other people's conversations. On Facebook, I often feel I am violating people's privacy, even though they have posted things publicly. I am not sure why the general public should be interested in what I am doing right now.

2. I have 4 wonderful little boys, pregnant now, and am desperately hoping for a girl this time. (as I was last time, and the time before that...)

3. I have a wonderful loving, caring and supportive husband. I feel incredibly blessed for us to have found each other.

4. I was engaged 2 weeks after meeting my husband. We were married within 3 months after that. Some people thought it was fast.....I couldn't imagine doing it differently. We felt we had no time to waste.

5. I gave birth to all of my children in a home birth setting. I can't imagine why people would choose to go to a hospital for this, and if I ever had to go, I would absolutely panic.

6. I am a Doctor of Chiropractic. I am proud of having a Doctorate, and love the knowledge I gained about the body through my studies. I don't practice anymore, though, and have no idea how I will pay back the money I borrowed for school.

7. All I ever really wanted to be when I grew up was a wife and a mommy, and maybe a teacher. I am incredibly blessed to be able to have everything that I ever really wanted.

8. I am an only child, and my parents separated and then divorced while I was young. I was always very lonely, and wished for a large family. I used to imagine a long dining room table filled with people, and they were all my family. I am on my way to creating that.

9. I know that living in Israel is exactly where we should be. That said, daily life here is very difficult, and I miss the conveniences I always took for granted growing up in the US.

10. I am very opinionated, and my views rarely go with mainstream thought. I don't understand why most people aren't like I am, but have accepted it. I am thankful that my husband and I agree on most things.

11. I find it somewhat amusing that so many people seem amazed that I have so many children, and still hope to have more. I am blessed by each of them and wish others could experience what I have as a mother.... (the good parts!)

12. When I was in the fourth grade, my favorite song was "Ebony and Ivory" by Paul McCartney. ( I didn't get exposed to much pop culture, and didn't have much of a base to choose from) I admitted this when asked by other kids, and got laughed at. I felt very embarrassed, and still remember that awful feeling.

13. My grandmother used to say, "I come from a long line of tired people." I need a lot of sleep to function and feel generally happy, and I don't usually get as much as I need. I wish I could do well on less.

14. I love the idea of homeschooling, and hope to begin it in 2 years. I am afraid I won't like it as much as I think I will, although it has always been a goal of mine.

15. I hope I can learn Hebrew, and stop feeling like a foreigner. I fear that I will never really feel at home here.

16. I wish my loved ones would come visit.

17. The best time of my life when I was younger was my senior year in high school. I really loved being involved in BAFTY and SEFTY, songleading, being in drama at school...it was a very good time in my life.

18. When I was young, I stole a few things from other kids at school. Once I stole a pink pen that hangs on a string around your neck from a store. It's the only thing I ever took from a store, and I've never admitted it until right now.

19. When I was little, I wanted to join the army. Private Benjamin was one of my favorite movies.

20. I thought that 25 things would be very easy to come up with. I am surprised that I am starting to struggle.

21. I have an incredible amount of respect for single mothers. I can't imagine doing this without the support of my husband.

22. I have a very difficult time making time for myself, doing fun things for me. I am afraid of losing the part of my identity that is not a mommy. That being said, I love my tough job, and wouldn't trade it for anything.

23. I have very clear memories of times with my friends as a child and a teen. I wonder if they remember those times too.

24. I have never found out the gender of my babies before the due date. I plan to this time around, and am a little bit afraid to hear that it has something dangling.

25. My third baby was born so fast that the midwife did not make it to my house in time, and my husband and a good friend were there to deliver the baby. It was amazing.

26. A bonus...I really miss the following things from the States: Wal-Mart, cable TV, Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts, platanos maduros (fried plantains--Cuban food),more food I can't think of.... most of these are food, aren't they. Hmm. I really like to eat. :)

Letter to Gaza Citizen: I am the soldier who slept in your home

I read a very moving letter, called "Letter to Gaza Citizen: I am the Soldier Who Slept In Your Home." I wanted to share it with you. Below is the link; please click on it to read.

Forget Twitter

Ok, I made a mistake. I think I was premature to suggest that you all consider Facebook AND Twitter. Forget Twitter. It's pretty complicated, and does not seem to be worthwile for "regular" folks. It's more for those trying to guide the masses to their website or something. It's also great for passing current events faster than anything else can. But that's not what we need for staying in touch.

I still think that Facebook can be good for all of us. And another thing I want to start using is Skype. Skype allows you to instant message or actually talk with or without video, live. It's nice because if you have it open on your computer, it will notify you if any of your contacts are online at the same time. Then you may choose to say "hi" or call, if you want to. It's better than the phone in that you already know if the person is there. I have added it, and am hoping to add contacts (like you). Just go to skype.com and sign up.

Either way, please, let's be in touch. Email me at kimberleiba@aol.com and we can set up a chat date, or I can help you sign up for Facebook or Skype.

Hope to hear from you soon!
