Yehonatan David (ben Chaim Ezra) Goldman
Yehonatan = "Yah (God) gives" David = "beloved"
We may have been hoping for a girl, especially after having three boys, but in great thankfulness we declare that Yah Almighty has given us a beloved gift.
Yehonatan is pronounced "yeh-HOH-nah-tahn", the English version is Jonathan; and the Hebrew pronunciation of David is "dah-VEED".
On a night that saw eight boys murdered in a Jerusalem yeshiva while studying Torah, our family was blessed with new life. The name we have chosen is in memory of two of those boys, both just sixteen years of age. Yonatan Yitzhak Eldar of Shiloh (we have decided on the version of this name that includes the Hebrew letter "hay"), and Avraham David Moses of Efrat.
In addition, Yehonatan (son of King Shaul) and David (who became King) loved each other so much, they were as brothers (I Samuel 18-20) As our Yehonatan was born into a home full of brothers, and into a modern day Israel and a world that greatly needs the spirit of fraternal love, we pray this legacy of selfless love and devotion over his life.
We are calling him "Yoni". (YO-nee)
